Teaching, Lending and Project Site

Kenton County Public Library will provide regional training to kids, teachers, library workers, businesses, and community members on Raspberry Pi. They will test and create a kit with the needed equipment and curriculum for other libraries to offer training at their location.

They will also test models of lending Raspberry Pi computers to the public and directly to schools. They will test and create a kit with the needed equipment, instructions and policies so that other libraries can start lending Raspberry Pis.

As a project site, they will test and develop beacon technology with the Raspberry Pi based on an identified organizational need. Code and step-by-step instructions will be shared for other libraries.

Finally, they will model a process for developing a support network and professional development path for libraries who lack the technical knowledge to implement DIY technology projects. In this model, libraries host Raspberry Jams or Maker Clubs, attend and partner with local and online technology user groups, and complete courses in the areas such as Linux, command line, networking, Python and open source hardware. Key staff members will attend training by the Raspberry Pi Foundation.
